Lebanon: Lebanon-based Bank of Beirut has said its net profit in the first nine months of 2011 remained flat, despite difficult economic conditions in the country, The Daily Star has reported. "We have recorded a net profit of $76.1m in the first nine months of this year. The profits went up by only 0.2%, compared with the same period last year but nevertheless our assets and deposits went up significantly," said the bank's chief financial officer, Roger Dagher. "There is a pressure on profitability due to the margins. But if we look at other indicators of Bank of Beirut such as deposits and assets they all went up considerably," he said. [AMEInfo.com]

A Lebanon city police officer killed a pit bull who charged at him twice Saturday night shortly after attacking another pit bull. The officer, whom Lebanon Police Chief Daniel J. Wright declined to identify, fatally shot the dog on 12th Street.
